I’m getting ready for Coffee Break Fest this Saturday, and this pretty little lady is helping me stay focused. Also pictured, mugs from the past years of coffee tasting. LOVE this festival! Stop by between 9am and 3pm. See many talented craft fair vendors, stroll through the car show (both vintage and new models!), eat some delicious food, and taste some FANTASTIC coffee!
Farewell, July! Hello, August! Back to School indeed!
In the giggleFritz studio I am counting down the days until Coffee Break Fest on Saturday, August 17. I have been working on Sock Monkeys, Socktopus Guys, and bibs/burp clothes in particular. Love, love, LOVE this craft fair/festival!
In our household we have been counting down the days until Kindergarten begins: 21 days! In the meantime we have been wearing ourselves out at the playground, riding bikes, running/walking 5k’s, reading books, playing stuffed animals, going to Milwaukee Brewer games, traveled up to Ashland, WI to see Big Bay State Park, swimming, etc. We are about summered out!
Hold on! This month is going to fly by so fast your head will spin! (and THAT’s how I like my August!)
It took so long for summer to arrive. We had 3.5 months of ugly spring. It was cold and it rained constantly. Now it is full-blown SUMMER!
Thank the Lord for beautiful, wonderful-smelling flora! For weeks we had blooming lilacs (and whatever this pink tree is) lifting our spirits from our yard. Whenever possible, I walked up to the closest lilac bush and fully inhaled the heavenly aroma. Our neighbors may have thought I was a tad kooky. Ah, well. Talk about a mood booster!
DD’s school let out at the end of May. I have been scrambling to get into a decent sewing routine ever since. Between swimming lessons, library visits, playground adventures, and kitchen table crafting sessions, my dear little sewing business has been cooling on the back burner. However, I am not stressing over it. It won’t become sour like old coffee. No. It will steep into a rich, warm tea. I promise!
Speaking of coffee (the good kind!), the giggleFritz and Co. booth will be at Coffee Break Fest in Stoughton, WI on Saturday, August 17. It is always a great time! Come see all of the new Socktopus guys and Sock Monkeys and taste some fine coffee.
I am off! It’s time to hone my time management skills, machine sew a new sock monkey, and make some dinner for my family too! Have a lovely weekend!
This describes, exactly, what is going on at my house. At the end of January we had a family member move in with us. We live in a three bedroom home. Two of the bedrooms are used as bedrooms. The third bedroom is used as my office/sewing room. Guess which room our family member house guest got to stay in? If you guessed my office/sewing room, DING, DING, DING! You get a prize!
I didn’t get a prize. I got an unorganized mess to deal with. All of my “stuff” was moved to our finished basement, where we tripped over everything until the end of March. I have gotten very little accomplished since January.
However, our family member is back on their feet and is doing better than ever! That makes me extremely happy and I’m glad we could help! Now it is time to regroup and get to work.
Yesterday, we moved most of my office/sewing room “stuff” back into my office/sewing room. It is all together, but must be organized and put away. My DH is also happy because he is expanding his work area in the basement and needs my things out of his way. We are making progress!
As I was organizing my desk yesterday, I came across a gift my DD had given me last year. She made it and wanted me to have it. Not knowing what to do with this lovely gift, I had tucked it into some of my papers on my desk. At the time, she was four, and had made me oh so many beautiful gifts, I didn’t know where to put them. I showed DH what I had found and said, “This is why nothing I have is organized. Everything I own is intermingled with DD’s things. She either gives me things or takes my things.”
I love my gift! You should all be jealous! 😉
I am off to do all of the giggleFritz things I must get done today.
Last week was busy. I was preparing for my first craft fair of the season, which was yesterday. DD (5 year old) was home on spring break as well. It was a lovely, busy week.
Last Thursday was opening day for Brewer’s baseball! I watched some of the game on TV and was super excited! In honor of opening day I made German Potato Salad and Brats for dinner, brownie sundaes for dessert. Our Milwaukee Brewer’s won! Thursday was a great day! Here is a picture of me being happy in my Brewer’s shirt, trying to finish up a pink Sock Bunny:
The craft fair on Saturday (yesterday) was so much fun! I want to say “Thank You” to every customer who stopped by and looked, squeezed a Socktopus or Sock Monkey leg, gave a sweet compliment, or purchased and item: Thank You So MUCH!! You were a great group of people!
Thank You to my sisters that came with me, helped out, and Sandy who sold her beautiful cards for the first time.
And Thank You to Jasmine, the amazing artist selling her gorgeous paintings, coasters, switch plates, etc. We had so much fun talking and laughing, the day flew by!
And, here we are at the end of March. A quarter of this year is already behind us. Spring is coming, things are changing, and I have more planning to do. Are you ready for April? I am not. I am off to get my ducks in a row!
I truly wish the first day of spring on the calendar matched the weather in Wisconsin. It is warming up and drying up from the recent flooding we had. However, it is a gray and cloudy day outside on this “First Day of Spring”.
I am indoors sewing bibs and sock monkeys for the upcoming, “It’s a Spring Thing” craft fair on Saturday, March 30th. I briefly remembered today is the first day of spring and decided to share my mixed media sock monkey picture with you all. It makes me smile. I hope you smile too! 🙂
PS – Dairy Queen is giving away free ice cream cones, while supplies last. I am not getting one, but it’s not too late for you!
