July 12, 2021 – Good Monday Morning!
Hello All!
It’s Monday, yet I am feeling good! Got my coffee, my tunes, and I am about to get down to business at my sewing machine. Yesterday, I got (some of) my ducks in a row and worked on Note-to-Self mini books for the upcoming Coffee Break Fest in Stoughton, WI. August 21st! I am getting fantastically excited, but have a ton of work to do. So, I am off to work.
Have a wonderful Monday!
PS – I am listening to Fitz and the Tantrums Radio on Pandora. Yes, Pandora. No, not Spotify or whatever else is new. I actually still like Pandora and will stick with it because I am a stubborn German Lady, and that’s how I roll! Have a lovely day! 😀
July 4, 2021 – Happy Independence Day!!
Let freedom ring!!
June 29, 2021 – Sushi?!
Today, it happened. I finally tried sushi. Here is my story.
My DH works in downtown Milwaukee. During the many years that we have been married, frugal me has always encouraged a brown bag lunch. I am into saving money. I pack the lunch, he eats the lunch, we are a great team! I try to pack different sandwiches and fun treats, but DH is kind of picky and often is too busy to eat. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were a staple, and coworkers would tease him about them because he ate them so often.
Well before the Covid lockdown DH had been eating out at the downtown restaurants at least once a week. There were many work lunches and coworker birthdays, etc. No big deal for frugal me, it saved me the time of packing a lunch. One of his favorite restaurants was a sushi restaurant where he loved Tuna Rolls. I heard about Tuna Rolls often and was encouraged to try them. “NO WAY! I don’t want parasites!” was my usual response. I just could NOT get around raw meat.
DH is still working from home. It has been over a year. He might return to the office in September. Meanwhile, I am very bored with the same things we have been eating for lunch with our DD over summer. We have gotten into the habit of stopping at the grocery store after swimming lessons and the library on Tuesdays. We would pick up two of those cheapy “Roma” pizzas and a few items we needed. Not the best lunch, but something different. I had mentioned to DH that the grocery store had sushi near the entryway and wondered if he would like to try it. He said, “Sure”. Today, I finally remembered to send him a photo of what they offered for sushi! He asked me to grab Spicy Tuna Rolls and I prepared myself to try at least one piece of sushi.
Did I like it? Yes. It came with the fake wasabi stuff on the side. I like that because it has horseradish in it. It was spicy good!
Am I a bit worried about getting parasites? Kind of. I mean, people warn of eating “Gas Station Sushi”. That’s kind of the same thing. It’s not from a Sushi Restaurant. If not for the parasites thing, I would LOVE this dish. We will see. At least I tried something new today!
Try something new today and have a wonderful day!

June 13, 2021 – 5K for Kids 2021
Happy Sunday, Everyone! This past Spring (and beginning of summer) have been so very busy. I don’t like to sit still, and I haven’t been. I’ve been working hard on our veggie garden, canning dandelion jelly and lilac jelly, running younger DD to rubberball and swimming lessons, and working on a few Sock Monkeys here and there. This summer will be history in no time!
One of the things I have continued to work on is running. I started back up over two years ago and have made a conscience effort to keep at it each week. Last year on New Year’s Eve I made a resolution to run in a 10K in 2020. I have run in a few 5K runs with my sister, but I thought I would challenge myself since I would have been running for a consecutive year. Then, Covid-19 happened and everything was called off except virtual runs. I wasn’t down with that. I kept running at home on our treadmill and outside. I was running 4-5 days a week and REALLY wanted a “Run” to participate in.
Back in April life around our area really started going back to normal. The masks started to come off and events started to get planned! I found that our favorite run was going to happen in June and I signed right up. Today, after two years of waiting, my sister, older DD, younger DD, and I got to run in our race again. Things are going better than normal!
Also, the t-shirt color this year was purple. It’s not my favorite color, but it’s my giggleFritz and Co. color. I take that as a good sign!
I hope you are having a wonderful summer and doing all of the things you love.

April 27, 2021 – Coffee Break Fest 2021!!
Hello, Everyone! Life has steadily been getting back to normal around our neck of the woods and I am LOVING that! I have been busy with all sorts of things in our home, but also getting back to sewing for craft fairs and filling my online shops. I know for a fact that the giggleFritz and Co booth has been accepted to the Coffee Break Fest Craft Fair on August 21st (So EXCITED!! :D)! I am praying that it won’t be cancelled and we will have a terrific time, like in previous years. Pray with me!
Talk to you soon!
Have a WONDERFUL Day! 😀

March 15, 2021 – The Day after Vacation
Hello again! How have you been? How’s your liver? Lol! That’s something my mom used to say as a greeting: “How’s your liver?” My liver is well and I hope yours is too.
Yesterday, we returned from a short vacation to Wisconsin Dells. We had a great time and it was much needed. We didn’t go anywhere last year due to Covid, so it was really wonderful to step away from our normal lives for a few days. I couldn’t do laundry, make dinner, wash dishes, or put people’s stuff away for 2.5 days. Fantastic! Best of all, we went with fun people, had a blast at the waterpark, and got to sit around and do nothing at all for brief periods of time. I even read some of my book! Fantastic!
Today is the day after vacation. Also, daylight saving was this past weekend. Getting up this morning was pretty awful. However, I am surprised at how focused I am today. After I got moving I had/have all sorts of ambition. For instance, I am writing on my blog! Yay! I will have to make an important “Note-to-Self” to step away more often.
The day after vacation started off beautifully. While making breakfast and packing DD’s lunch, I heard a bunch of noise outside. I disregarded it as one of the teenagers from the neighborhood driving to school with their radio playing really loudly. I looked out the front window anyway and saw a school bus had driven by. As I saw the bus stopped at the stop sign down the road, I noticed the gorgeous sunrise in the east. I mean GORGEOUS! I yelled to DD that she HAD to see this sunrise! She came and looked, agreed it was beautiful, then ran back to her breakfast and cartoon. I ran to my phone so I could snap a picture before the brilliant colors of that sunset disappeared. The picture below doesn’t even do it justice.
I believe the old saying is: “Pink skies in morning, sailors take warning!” But, I am NOT a sailor. I am a sock monkey maker! So, I hope this sunrise is a sign of the beautiful day to come.
Have a wonderful Monday!
